Jim Urquhart, painter

Jim Urquhart was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1948 and attended Edinburgh School of Art between 1966-1968. He finished his studies in 1975 at Central School of Art and Design in Holborn, London. A year after graduating he did a post graduate course in teacher training at the University of London.

He has been living in Hungary since 1996, where he paints and does illustrations for various British publications such as the Blue guide, Granta and Signal Books.

His first exhibition in Budapest was at the Obuda Galeria organised by the prestigious Hungarian art historian Gábor Andrási and he has exhibited regularly since. He was also honoured to be one of the few foreign born painters to have a painting selected for the Millennium Contemporary Art exhibition in the Budapest Mucsarnok. Private companies, such as AstraZeneca, Volvo and Ericsson have shown his work in their galleries.
